Your final grade in MATH 1332 is determined by the following point breakdown:
A discussion and further breakdown of each area follows. Late Work PolicyIt is of the utmost importance that you keep up with the weekly assignments. Students who fall behind in completing the assignments usually find themselves in trouble in the later weeks of the semester. All quizzes that are not completed by their due date will be given a grade of zero. Finally, ALL work must be submitted by 11:59 pm on May 6, 2008. Any work submitted after that will not be graded. Final Grade Determination
Weekly AssignmentsEach week students will generally be given a reading assignment and a hands-on assignment. The reading assignment will relate to the course objectives and the hands-on assignment will allow the student to practice the concepts covered by the course material. QuizzesThere are eight assigned Quiz Experiences as shown in the course calendar. The five highest quiz scores will be used to determine your quiz grade. Any quizzes not taken by the due date will be given a score of zero. Each quiz may be taken as many as two times with the highest score counting as the quiz score. Midterm ExamThe midterm exam is scheduled for the weekend of March 7-9. The midterm is an in-person exam and will be given on campus. In order to take the midterm, a picture ID must be shown to the proctor. You may bring one 8 1/2" by 11" page of notes and a calculator to the midterm. The midterm will cover the material from Chapter 2, Chapter 8, and Chapter 10. Final ExamThe final exam is scheduled for the weekend of May 2-4. The final exam is a comprehensive, in-person exam and will be given on campus. In order to take the midterm, a picture ID must be shown to the proctor. You may bring one 8 1/2" by 11" page of notes and a calculator to the midterm. Research ProjectYou’ll choose an area of mathematics to research and prepare a presentation of that topic for the rest of the class. (You’ll be submitting a rough draft which I will return with comments, ungraded, to help in preparing the final Presentation.)
