Alliance for Equality
in Higher Education
The Alliance for Equity in Higher Education is a policy-based coalition comprised
of the American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC), the Hispanic
Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), and the National Association
for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education (NAFEO). AIHEC,
HACU, and NAFEO represent Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), Hispanic-Serving
Institutions (HSIs), and Historically Black Colleges and Universities
(HBCUs), respectively. Collectively, these institutions are also known as Minority-Serving
Institutions (MSIs), which serve high proportions of low-income, educationally
disadvantaged students.
American Association
of Community Colleges
AACC’s membership represents close to 95 percent of all accredited
U.S. two-year community, junior and technical colleges and their 10.5 million
students, as well as a growing number of international members in Puerto
Rico, Japan, Great Britain, Korea, and the United Arab Emirates. The colleges
are the largest and fastest-growing sector of U.S. higher education, enrolling
close to half (45 percent) of all U.S.undergraduates. Headquartered in the National Center for Higher Education in Washington, D.C.,
AACC is the primary advocacy organization for community colleges at the national
level and works closely with directors of state offices to inform and affect
state policy.

The Hispanic Association
of Colleges and Universities
(HACU) was established
in 1986 with a founding membership
of eighteen institutions.Today, HACU represents more than 400 colleges and universities committed to
Hispanic higher education success in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Latin America and
Spain. Although our member institutions in the U. S. represent less than 10%
of all higher education institutions nationwide, together they are home to
more than three-fourths of all Hispanic college students. HACU is the only
national educational association that represents Hispanic-Serving Institutions
(HSIs).

The League for Innovation
in the Community College
The League is an international consortium serving community colleges. Colleges
connect with us by joining the League Alliance and subscribing to iStream, our

The Cost of Remedial Education
An Article More than a third of Michigan students leave high school without possessing basic academic skills including reading, writing, and arithmetic. This forces employers and post-secondary schools to take up the slack. This study conservatively estimates that Michigan businesses and institutions of higher education spend over $600 million annually to teach employees and students skills they should have learned in high school.

HCC: Faculty Certification
in Technology
The Certificate in Teaching and Learning Effectiveness is an opportunity for faculty to obtain competencies in both traditional and contemporary strategies of learning and teaching. Existing and seasoned faculty may seek the CTLE in order to accomplish their respective professional development goals and objectives. Less experienced and newly appointed faculty may use the CTLE in order to gain desired knowledge and skills of best learning and teaching practices.

Angeles Trade Technical College
The Title V Grant is a Federal funding for Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions. The Purpose of the Grant is to support Hispanic-Serving Institutions of higher education to expand their capacity to serve Hispanic and other low-income students. This is a five-year $1,655,269 development grant. Programs developed: Automotive Technology, Construction Technology, Culinary Arts, Electronics Technology and Liberal Arts.

Chicago:
Malcolm X College
The Title V Grant provides for the expansion of educational opportunities for, and improve the academic attainment of Hispanics and underrepresented students; and will expand and enhance the academic offerings, program quality, and institutional stability of the college in educating the Hispanic students and other low income individuals complete post secondary degrees.

New
Mexico State University at Carlsbad
Broadening Access is funded by a Title V grant designed to provide the Hispanic and low-income residents of our combined rural service areas:
- A general education degree program that can serve as a stepping stone to a four-year degree; and
- Education and training in a high-demand technical program that can lead to gainful employment in well-paying, cutting-edge technology fields.
The first program to be designed is the Associate of Arts Degree program. This program will provide all the "basics" for students so they can transfer easily to a four-year degree institution. The courses for this degree program will be converted to an online format over a two year period and will be offered by the Carlsbad and Alamogordo campuses.

Title V Learning Community project has advanced our institution by improving pedagogy, enhancing our curricula, making better use of institutional resources and by providing more successful academic experiences for our students.

Grants are awarded to Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) to assist eligible
Hispanic-serving institutions of higher education to expand their capacity
to serve Hispanic and low-income students. Five-year development grants and
one-year planning grants may be awarded. Funds may be used for activities such
as the renovation of instructional facilities, faculty development, the purchase
of scientific or laboratory equipment for
educational purposes, funds and administrative management, development and
improvement of academic programs, acquisition of equipment to strengthen funds
management and academic program, joint use of facilities, academic tutoring,
counseling programs, student support services.

TLA provides support on pedagogy, course design, student development, and professional portfolio development.
