However

 

However has the same meaning as but. However and but both show contrast. However can connect two sentences to make a compound sentence.

EXAMPLE:

The grammar class is easy, but the writing class is difficult.

OR

The grammar class is easy; however, the writing class is difficult.

Notice that when you use however, you must end the first clause with a semicolon (;) and put a comma after however.
